Rajkot (India)I've been trying to get to drupaldojo.com for a few days now, and running into difficulty.
I'm using openDNS and get the following error.
The computers that run drupaldojo.com are having some trouble. Usually this is just a temporary problem, so you might want to try again in a few minutes.
Want more detail? See which nameservers are failing.

Nameservers for drupaldojo.com:
* ns1.firebright.com returned (SERVFAIL) * ns2.firebright.com returned (SERVFAIL)However, going to DownForEveryoneOrJustMe showed that it's up, so the problem appears intermittent.
In asking on #drupal-dojo, several others were having this issue as well,

Should I file an issue on the project list, or is notification here sufficient?
PerúI watched the screencast on Organic Groups Panels - a super video! I want to add a page for Discussions (like here on Drupal Dojo) but I can't work out how to add a view (I can add blocks etc no problem). The screencast shows the Events page is made by adding OG teasers filtered by type/term which appears under Organic groups (along with OG Posts by NodeOG - titles, River of News - table and OG River of News - teasers) - but I can't see these views when I add content in the panel on my site. I just see Group description, Group details, Group search, Group Subscribers and Welcom message - can anyone help me find out how to add the river of news, OG posts by type etc.
I have Drupal 5.7 and the following up-to-date modules (as of today):
- Organic groups panels
- Mini panels
- Panel nodes
- Panel pages
- Panels
- Views panes
- Tabs panel style

Drupal DojoFollowing on the heels of a great thread, I put together a screencast using the CCK Filefield module as a container for video media files and then applying the jQuery Media module to play back those media files in the appropriate player/method. I've been looking for a replacement for the video.module for some time and I wanted to put this recipe under a microscope. Check it out the screenie, feel free to drop me a line if you loved or hated it.

Does this sort of integration seem valuable/interesting? Any thoughts on what this would entail? How much time it would take? Should we create a 'task force' and have at it?

Hello,
My name is Matt Petrowsky and I just joined this group. I've been what you might call a closet drupal developer for some time and I'd like to get to know some other drupal developers who also like presenting content.
I'm in the midst of working on my second dupal site (my first one pays for my living) and I'm seeking feedback and interaction from other drupal developers, alas, I only know a few of them - so I thought I'd make an introduction here.
If you'd like to get a feel for the type of content I can potentially contribute to the dojo then I have a video posted here
http://techknowlogy.com/bypass/ (the main site is blocked)
I apologize if it seems like it's a bit promotional, but I've been using it as a calling card to find other drupal developers to work with. If you work with MAMP on the Mac, then the video's got some pretty good stuff. Symlinking MAMP/Virtual host logs into Console.app and using QuickSilver and Clix to launch php.ini and httpd.conf.
Anyway, I thought this smaller group of teachers and learners would be a bit more comfortable for me to make an introduction.

Drupal DojoI'm looking to create a form that a user can submit DNS information with. I've attached a screenshot of a generic layout of a DNS form from another application to use as a guideline. The problem is the horizontal layout of multiple fields in a row. Just wondering if anyone else has tackled this before and if it's possible in either Webforms or using CCK to customize the layout. See screenshot for an example.
Drupal DojoDrupal 6.x. Table "node".
What should the value of the "language" field be if the displayed text is Chinese.
If a value is required, are there any other things that need to be done so that Chinese symbols are correctly displayed.
Any help appreciated.
Steve
http://prime357.org
ps. I've got a thread running at my site which I think this may be a part issue to it. As you can imagine it's becoming very confusing as all I see is either unicode or Chinese symbols (can't read Chinese).
PostgresqlHope I'm not out of line with this request.
I'm now on the lookout for C++ contributors (and other like stuff in time). I started the site http://prime357.org, which is a separation from my personal blogging (http://superjacent.net - running) site, in early April this year. Too much geeky stuff was creeping into the running site.
The purpose of Prime357 was to track my development in C++ and a place to continue development of the Wordpress to Drupal converter, a Realbasic application. I've got some good how-to type tutorials (my opinion) and short demonstration programs which are presented via the Drupal book method. I first wanted to get some content into the site before seeking contributors so at at least anybody interested could get a feel for my intent (not that it's set in concrete).
Unfortunately, as regards C++ my time has been diverted to other IT stuff, the Wordpress converter and very soon Purebasic development which will in time will replace Realbasic as the development tool for the Wordpress (and phpBB) converter. I'm getting a heap of hits relating to the C++ stuff and I'd hate to see it dry up.
Contributors do not have to be fully fledged C++ coding experts but proficient enough to know what they are talking about which translates to explaining why things are/were done in a certain way. Ideally in normal English, non sms speak.
What can I offer contributors? That's a good question, nothing but a sense of satisfaction.
I'm Australian based (Melbourne) and the server is in the US. So any local contributors would be very welcome but that's not to say international ones wouldn't be.
Okay, that's my pitch.
Steve
http://prime357.org and Looking for Contributors.
ps. Where I've mentioned C++, if you wanted, you could substitute PHP and/or Drupal itself.

Theme developmentHi,
I know drupal is heavily database run to pull a single page.
I'd like to know the average number of sql queries run to construct a tipical (front) page.
I ran devel to collect query info on one of my sites I work on, and it shows that 800+ queries ran! Is this normal? I thought it was too many for a single page. If this is more than average, could you suggest ways to reduce the the number of sql queries? Did I miss big things to check as a new comer?
Thanks.
Los AngelesI hope this is the right area for this question which refers to the 'thread' field of the table 'comments'. I provide a non php solution to convert Wordpress data to Drupal. I recently became aware that the thread field is not a string of decimal numbers but is in fact a string of base 36 (Vancode) numbers. I've created the necessary functions to convert to and from base 36 format but I'm a little confused re - the leading digit/character.
Here is an excerpt from http://api.drupal.org/api/function/int2vancode/5
Generate vancode.
Consists of a leading character indicating length, followed by N digits with a numerical value in base 36. Vancodes can be sorted as strings without messing up numerical order.
It goes: 00, 01, 02, ..., 0y, 0z, 110, 111, ... , 1zy, 1zz, 2100, 2101, ..., 2zzy, 2zzz, 31000, 31001, ...
So, decimal 35 = z and so it is written as 0z. The leading zero in this case, how does that indicate length? Therefore decimal 36 = 10 and so is written as 110 as per the excerpt above. Again, how does the leading character 1 indicate length when the length of 10 is 2.
Obviously I can see a pattern forming whereby the leading character for the first 36 is 0, the next 36 is 1, the next 2 and so on up until z. Is there an assumption that the leading character will never be greater than "z".
Any help appreciated.

Update: Since no response from the initial group (Database Schema API) I'm posting to other groups I think might be relevant. Secondary question is, for specific backend database type questions which group or forum is most relevant. I've got other backend database type questions waiting in the wings.
PostgresqlHello everyone,
Some friends and I are puting together an "drupal academy" in spanish, where we will be creating screencasts and providing them for free to the community, and we'd like to learn from your experience here at dojo.
As all this will b on our free time of course, we don't want to "get our fingers stuck in the door" timewise, and stil provide with nice useful content.
We feel there is a great need for the spanish speaking community for documentation/howtos and the rest, and think that screencasting is a great way to learn, so we plan on focusing just on this at the begining.
What do you think? Any advices we could use starting up the site?
The site itself will be on www.academiadedrupal.com and is stil very much not ready. We have made some early mistakes, buildign the house by the roof, and what you see will definetly not be the end result. We are in the process of rethinking the whole thing, and hence we search your input so that we can learn from your experience!

This screencast demonstrates the recipe for Imagecache and Imagefield (for CCK) to build a system for posting images on your Drupal website. This is a robust and flexible system for handling images and has a bright future with more helper modules born every day.
This micro-lesson depends on prior understanding of the CCK module and the Views module. This example uses Drupal 5 since the Image* modules for Drupal 6 are not available (yet).
