The USB Synlogy print server works just fine with Windows. The documentation states that it can only print to a Postscript printer from Mac OS X.
The HP 1015 LaserJet is sadly not a postscript printer - and I didn't spot this requirement before buying the print server.
However - despite the fact that it will detect the printer as a Postscript printer (you can try printing to it if you want to waste lots and lots of paper) - you can get this to work.
Ignore the fact that it says it must be postscript - just use the hpijs printer (see this post) and hey presto - it all just works.

How did you get it set up?
I have my Officejet 5510 printing from my Tiger iBook when the printer is connected to my XP box (using the hpijs foomatic drivers you mention above), but when I connect the printer to the Synology USB server, it doesn't work. What options did you use in Printer Utility on your Mac to connect? I've tried Windows Printing, Samba, LPR to no avail.
Hmm
Well - as far as I recall I ended up using LPR. Can't see how to check this via the printing utilities tho - they don't seem to show this info. I know I had to configure for the printer queue usbprinter1 on the Synergy.
I will say that I quite often have to reset the Synergy - not the most reliable device - sometimes the printer disappears, sometimes the disk disappears.
