The BT3030 bluetooth headset is a nice headset but with the iphone the minimum volume is too high.
It seems that a firmware update on the jabra can help a bit.
Twice in the last two days my iPhone 3G has not started properly (it gets to the white apple logo and no further).
In each case - a reset (press and hold both power and the main button until it stops) has allowed the phone to boot (albeit slowly - 2 mins or so).
But - once booted - it can only run the inbuilt apps - no third party apps run.
Last night I did a recover from backup. Today I did not want to go thru that again - it takes a long time.
Some googling has suggested that the phone loses some kind of authorization for apps. It suggests that adding a new free app or removing and re-adding an app can fix this.
It doesn't work for me over wlan or 3g. It does prompt for the password but the download never starts - and after a restart it just says "Unable to purchase".
Via iTunes and a USB cable it did work - simply removing an app then re-adding it (a sync required for each step) has re-enabled the apps.
I have no idea why the resets were needed (hope it's temporary) but at least this brings all the apps back without a full restore.
Two different sources have stated that NetCom would launch tethering support as of yesterday (to coincide with the iPhone 3GS launch). I can't see anything on the NetCom site itself though.
I can only say that there is no sign of it yet on my handset (but then mine took three days longer than expected to receive the visual voice mail update - no idea why) - so keeping fingers crossed that its on its way.

An update to iPhone 3.0 firmware release and stereo bluetooth - missing AVRCP
It turns out that the iPhone does support AVRCP - that's giving us the play/pause functionality.
But - in this support article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647
it says:
iPhone and iPod touch (2nd generation) support pause, play, and stop for AVRCP
So - apple have implemented AVRCP - but just not all of it.
From the support article there is no indication if this is going to get updated - so I guess we'll just have to hope.
Wildly irritating.
Apple have added A2DP (stereo music) over bluetooth.
Time to grab that bluetooth adapter I stopped using after getting an iPhone from work.
Hang on - the scan/skip buttons (fast forward/rewind/change track) don't work.
I'm astounded that Apple have included support for A2DP without AVRCP (AVRCP is the profile for these skip/scan buttons).
You get a stereo bluetooth adapter to avoid having to have cables and to keep the phone packed away in a pocket or bag. But with this omission you can't really control the phone - just start/stop and volume.
Really hope that it was an omission rather than a concrete descision.
Update (01-08-2009): iPhone 3.0 firmware release and tethering for NetCom - official support
I have to say I'm disappointed in NetCom today.
Apple have just released the iPhone 3.0 firmware. This includes both MMS and tethering.
Now - I have very little use for MMS - haven't used it much on previous phones. But tethering is a useful tool when you're stuck away from any wifi and need a brief connection.
Telenor have turned this functionality on by default - but NetCom did not appear to have done so.
Read on to hear what NetCom had to say ...
